Where to stay

Find your island base

We recommend staying in Akrotiri, Megalochori or Pyrgos as we will be organising shuttle transport to and from the Welcome Drinks and the Wedding. These villages are beautiful and close to the venue.

Getting around

Local buses connect the main towns, though services can be busy in summer and may not suit late-night plans. Taxis and private transfers are useful for journeys to and from the events. Car hire gives you more flexibility if you’d like to explore the island. For taxis or private transfers, you can contact Nikos at Santorini Pickups on +30 698 290 2516.

Shuttle arrangements for the wedding events will be shared closer to the date.

Frequently asked questions

How do we get to Santorini?

You can fly direct from London to Santorini Airport (JTR). Non-stop services are seasonal in summer and the flight takes around four hours. You can also fly via Athens, or take a ferry as part of a wider Greek trip. Check flight and ferry schedules for your travel dates.

Where should we stay?

We will be arranging a shuttle service from the villages of Akrotiri, Megalochori and Pyrgos so we would prefer if you stayed in one of these locations. However, you are welcome to stay elsewhere and make your own transport arrangements.

How will we get to the wedding?

Shuttle arrangements for the wedding events will be shared closer to the date. Local buses, taxis and private transfers are also available, but allow extra time during the busy summer season.

Can you recommend a taxi company?

For taxis or private transfers, you can contact Nikos at Santorini Pickups on +30 698 290 2516.

What should I wear?

For Friday’s welcome drinks, the dress code is cocktail. Think elegant summer dresses, chic tailoring and lightweight suits. Colour is encouraged (no white). Ties optional. For Saturday’s wedding ceremony and celebration, please wear formal attire. We would love our guests to dress up for the occasion! For ladies, we suggest floor-length gowns or elegant evening dresses. For gentlemen, a suit. Ties optional. No white or black tie. As we are celebrating in Santorini in the summer, we suggest lightweight fabrics such as linen.

What shoes should I bring?

Santorini has uneven paths, steps and volcanic stone. We recommend block heels or wedges.

What will we eat?

We will offer canapés at the Welcome Drinks and a four course traditional Greek cuisine dinner and late snacks at the Wedding. Menu options will be shared with guests closer to the date, along with the opportunity to select your preferred dishes and let us know of any dietary requirements.

Can I bring a plus one?

Your invitation will make clear who is invited, including whether it includes a plus one. Please RSVP for the people listed on your invitation.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are absolutely welcome, although the celebrations will be geared towards adults and Santorini can be tricky to navigate with little ones. As space is limited, please contact us in advance with the number of children you would like to bring so we can confirm whether we can accommodate them.

What is the weather like in June?

Late June is usually warm and sunny, with cooler evenings and a chance of a sea breeze. Bring sun protection and a light layer for later in the evening.

What currency is used?

Greece uses the euro (€). Cards are widely accepted, though it can be useful to carry a little cash for small purchases.

When should we book travel?

June is a popular time to visit Santorini. We recommend arranging flights and accommodation early, and checking current schedules before booking.

Who can I contact if I have any other questions?

Please contact Ellie, our wedding planner at Hera’s Weddings, at info@herasweddings.com.
